More than – 3 months during the riots in Egypt, I wrote here that Egypt will experience a period of prolonged instability. Between and within the expected scenarios explicitly states that one of the problems that Egypt will face is expected shortage of food.

on February 3 this year I wrote during the riots in Egypt, in the Israeli economic newspaper  Globes:

“I believe that the regime seems apparent difficulty to reverse the situation. Egypt will suffer from prolonged Instability which will continue till the decline in Mubarak from the public stage in Egypt. Another problem which is developing will be the outcome  of shortages of basic goods. As the riots and the curfew will continue, people increasingly narrow basic food supply which is in the hands of the government. If the  government will open the warehouses practical outcome will be emptying the stock  which should
cover supply  for a period of six months. Absence of the stock will create a black market, prices increasing on and food riots.

9 months ago I wrote  under the column  of Joseph Frank Globes wheat and rice wars my view on the implication of the  rise in
commodity prices which states explicitly that the continuing rise in agricultural commodity prices can affect the including the  stability of governments in several countries including Egypt, which was in my opinion in the twilight of the Mubarak reign I
expressed my opinion that goods prices contribute to the rise of radical Islamic regimes in Egypt, including the interpretation saw the same article the following link:

We are now in a process which will necessarily increase after the Muslim Brotherhood to power, unless the Egyptian army will continue to hold reins of power despite its promises for democratization.

לפני למעלה מ- 3 חודשים בעת המהומות במצרים כתבתי כאן כי מצרים צפויה לתקופה של חוסר יציבות מתמשך. בין לבין במסגרת התרחישים הצפויים ציינתי במפורש כי
אחת הבעיות העומדות לפיתחה של מצרים היא מחסור צפוי במזון.

כך כתבתי בין השאר ב 3 פברואר שנה זו כאן בגלובס במהלך המהומות במצרים: ” להערכתי נראה לכאורה כי המשטר יתקשה להחזיר את הגלגל לאחור. וחוסר היציבות במצרים ימשך עד לירידתו הסופית של מובארק מהבמה הציבורית במצרים. צריך לשים לב כי לתוך התבערה הנוכחית יישפך חומר בערה נוסף בדמות מחסור במוצרים הבסיסיים. ככל שהמהומות והעוצר ימשיכו, אנשים יאגרו יותר ויותר וצרי מזון בסיסים שאספקתם מצויה בידי הממשלה. פתיחת מחסני הממשלה משמעותם המעשית היא
ריקון מהי של מלאי המספיק לתקופה של כחצי שנה. מלאי שאזילתו תוביל ליצירת שוק שחור , עלית מחירים וליבוי המהומות.”

על עליית מחירי הסחורות כתבתי לפני 9 חודשים תחת הטור של יוסי פרנק בגלובס מלחמות האורז והחיטה בו ציינתי במפורש כי העלייה המתמשכת במחירי הסחורות החקלאיות
יכולה להשליך על יציבות השלטון במספר מדינות בכללן מצרים עליה כתבתי כי היא נמצאת בדמדומי שלטונו של מובארכ והבעתי את דעתי כי עליית מחירי הסחורות תתרום לעליית משטרים איסלאמים קיצוניים בין השאר במצרים את פרשנותי ראו באותו מאמר בקישור הבא:

אנו נמצאים עתה בתוך תהליך אשר בסופו יוביל בהכרח לעליית האחים המוסלמים לשלטון, אלא אם הצבא במצרים ימשיך לאחוז במוסרות השלטון למרות
הבטחותיו לדמוקרטיזציה.
